S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences (SNBNCBS), Kolkata, invites applications/nominations from highly motivated and dynamic scientists/academicians of eminence (Indian Nationals) for appointment to the post of Director.
The Centre conducts research in physical, chemical, and mathematical sciences in theoretical, computational, and experimental areas. It also undertakes translational research and runs Ph.D. (post M.Sc.), Integrated PhD (post B.Sc.), and Post-Doctoral Research programs.

The Director will be appointed after approval of the Competent Authority based on recommendations of a Search-cum-Selection Committee.

Essential Qualification
- Doctorate in any branch of science, especially:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
Desirable Qualifications
- Post-doctoral research
- Original published work of high standard
- Evidence of high professional eminence (e.g., fellowships of academies, national/international awards in science, etc.)
- Experience in management of major research projects
6. Essential Experience
I. For Direct Recruitment

II. For Deputation / Contract
Scientists/Technologists working in Central/State Governments/Universities/Recognized Research Institutions/Semi-Government, statutory, or autonomous organizations in India:

7. Job Description
The Director shall:
- Have overall administrative control of the Centre
- Provide high-level leadership in identification of research programmes and projects of national and international relevance
- Motivate scientists and promote creativity and excellence
- Establish rapport with national and international academic and professional institutions
- Ensure multidisciplinary and multi-institutional cooperation
