The NHAI Chief General Manager Recruitment 2026 has been issued by the National Highways Authority of India under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The NHAI Chief General Manager Recruitment 2026 requires candidates to possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university or institute. Applicants must have a minimum of 17 years of regular service in a post carrying substantive pay scale of Level-10 or equivalent or higher. Out of this, candidates must have at least 10 years of experience in implementation of infrastructure sector projects related to highways, roads, or bridges. Preference will be given to candidates having experience in Public Private Partnership projects.
The recruitment will be conducted through both promotion and deputation modes. For deputation, officers from Central Government, State Governments, Union Territories, Public Sector Undertakings, and other government bodies are eligible. Candidates must either hold an analogous post in Level-14 or have at least three years of regular service in Level-13 of the pay matrix. Separate eligibility provisions are also specified for officers from State Public Works Departments.
The maximum age limit for deputation is 58 years as on the closing date of application. The selected candidates will be liable to serve anywhere in India as the post carries all-India service liability. The period of deputation shall ordinarily be from one to five years, extendable subject to approval and performance.
