Department of Defence Production Contract Purchase Officer Recruitment 2026 has been notified by the Government of India, Ministry of Defence, Department of Defence Production vide Vacancy Circular F. No. 12(3)/2025-D(Coord/DDP) dated 26 November 2025 regarding filling up one post of Contract Purchase Officer (CPO) on deputation basis. Subsequently, as per Office Memorandum dated 17 February 2026, the last date for receipt of applications has been extended up to 02.04.2026.
The vacancy pertains to one post of Contract Purchase Officer in the Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence. Applications are invited from officers fulfilling the eligibility conditions prescribed in Annexure-I of the vacancy circular. Officers volunteering for the post will not be permitted to withdraw their names later. Only such recommendations as are accompanied by requisite personal data in Part-A of Annexure-II, requisite certificate and documents by the cadre controlling authority in Part-B of Annexure-II will be considered.
As specified in Annexure-I, the post of Contract Purchase Officer is classified as General Central Service, Group ‘A’, Gazetted, Non-Ministerial. The pay scale of the post is Level 11 (Rs. 67,700 – 2,08,700/-) of the Pay Matrix [Pay Band 3: Rs. 15600–39100/- plus Grade Pay of Rs. 6600/- (pre-revised)]. Officers under the Central Government holding analogous posts on regular basis in the parent cadre or department are eligible. Alternatively, officers with five years’ regular service in Level 10 (Rs. 56100–177500) in the pay matrix [Pay Band 3: Rs. 15600–39100/- plus Grade Pay of Rs. 5400/- (pre-revised)] or equivalent in the parent cadre or department are eligible. In addition, officers must possess five years’ experience in drafting and issue of contract documents and supply orders and dealing with contractual matters relating to purchase and supplies.
The period of deputation including period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organization/department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed four years. The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation shall not be exceeding 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of application.
Applications of eligible officers willing to be considered and who can be spared may be sent through proper channel within 60 days from the date of publication of the advertisement in the Employment News/Rozgar Samachar. Applications received after the due date or not in the prescribed format or without requisite documents will not be considered.
