Selection Process:


Phase 1 – Online Examination


The online examination will comprise two components: an objective test for 120 marks and a descriptive test for 50 marks.

  • The objective test will be of 2 hours duration and will include four sections:
    • English Language – 30 marks (30 minutes)
    • Banking Knowledge – 40 marks (40 minutes)
    • General Awareness/Economy – 30 marks (30 minutes)
    • Computer Aptitude – 20 marks (20 minutes)
  • The Descriptive Test will be conducted for 30 minutes and will assess English language skills through letter writing and essay, carrying a total of 50 marks.

Phase 2 – Screening
A Screening Committee will verify whether candidates meet the prescribed eligibility criteria, particularly in terms of experience. The committee will also assess the suitability of the job profile submitted by candidates against the requirements of the Scale-I Generalist Officer role. Based on merit, candidates up to approximately three times the number of circle-wise and category-wise vacancies will be shortlisted for the interview.

Phase 3 – Interview
The interview will carry 50 marks. Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks in the interview to be considered for final selection.

Phase 4 – Local Language Proficiency Test
Provisionally selected candidates will be required to undergo a Local Language Proficiency Test in the opted local language before joining the bank. Candidates who have studied the specified local language in Class 10th or 12th and can produce a valid marksheet or certificate will be exempted from this test.

Final Selection
The final merit list will be prepared based on the normalized scores of the online examination and the interview, with a weightage of 75:25, respectively.

  • Online test marks (out of 170) will be converted to 75 marks.
  • Interview marks (out of 50) will be converted to 25 marks.

Note:

Sectional cut-offs or sectional marks will not be maintained in the online examination.

There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers in the objective test.

Eligibility

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government, including an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD). Candidates with professional qualifications such as Medical, engineering, chartered accountancy, or cost accountancy are also eligible to apply.

Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as on 31.12.2025 as an officer in any Scheduled Commercial Bank or Regional Rural Bank, as listed in the Second Schedule of the Reserve Bank of India.

Salary Requirement
Candidates currently working in Scheduled Commercial Banks other than Public Sector Banks/Regional Rural Banks must be drawing a minimum annual gross salary of ₹9.50 lakh per year for each year of experience. Documentary proof such as Form-16, Annual Income Statement (AIS), salary slips for the last 24 months, or a certificate from the employer must be submitted in support of the salary claim.

Local Language Proficiency
Candidates applying for vacancies in a specific Circle must be proficient in reading, writing, and understanding at least one of the specified opted local languages of that Circle.

Exclusions / Ineligibility
The following categories of candidates are not eligible to apply:

  • Employees working in subsidiaries of Scheduled Commercial Banks
  • Candidates employed in SBI in clerical or supervisory cadres
  • Personnel engaged on a contract basis
  • Candidates who have resigned from officer grade positions in SBI or its Associate Banks

CIBIL Status
Candidates who have defaulted on any loan or credit facility with Banks or NBFCs, including credit card dues, and whose accounts have not been regularised or repaid, will be ineligible for appointment.

Character & Antecedents
Candidates against whom there is any adverse report relating to character, antecedents, or involvement in moral turpitude will not be considered eligible for the post.

  • Keep a valid email ID and mobile number active until the final result is declared.

  • Fill in all details carefully and submit the application after completion.
  • Pay the application fee through the online payment gateway using debit card, credit card, or internet banking.
  • After successful payment, an e-receipt and filled application form will be generated. Print and keep them for future reference.

  • No call letter will be sent by post.
  • Bring one original photo ID (Passport/Aadhaar/PAN/Driving Licence/Voter ID/Bank Passbook with photo) along with a self-attested photocopy.
  • Important Points
  • Submit only one application. If multiple applications are submitted, only the last completed application will be considered.
