Educational Qualification & Experience
Essential Qualification
Master’s degree from a recognized university in:
- Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at degree level
OR - English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at degree level
OR - Any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi Medium and English as compulsory or elective subject or as medium of examination at degree level
OR - Any subject other than Hindi or English, with English as the Medium and Hindi as compulsory or elective subject or as medium of examination at degree level
OR - Any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as medium of examination and the other as compulsory or elective subject at degree level
AND
- Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa
OR - Two years’ experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in a central or state government office, including the Government of India Undertaking.
Preference
Preference shall be given to candidates having knowledge of:
- Hindi typing
- Computers (MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
Emoluments
Selected candidates will be entitled to:
- Basic Pay as per scale
- IDA (51.8% – existing rate, variable)
- HRA (30% for Kolkata location)
- CPF (12%)
- NPS (6%)
- Gratuity (4.81%)
- Medical benefits for self and dependants as per Company rules
Applicants applying through proper channel / providing NOC at Document Verification stage shall be eligible for Pay Protection (Basic Pay + DA) as per Government Guidelines.
Application Fee
- ₹500/- (Non-refundable) for all candidates except SC/ST/PwD.
- Fee to be paid through Payment Gateway / NEFT Online Transfer via HCL website only.
- No other mode of payment accepted.
Selection Process
Selection will be based on Written Test followed by Document Verification.

- Total Duration: 90 Minutes (Objective) + 30 Minutes (Descriptive)
- 1/4th mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
- Minimum qualifying marks for shortlisting: 30% (aggregate).
Written test details (date, venue, etc.) will be communicated through the call letter.
Reservation
Reservation for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/EWS/Ex-Servicemen/PwD shall be as per government directives.

- Candidates must upload a passport-size photograph and signature (both below 50 KB, .jpg format).
- After submission, print the online application and acknowledgement slip for records.
Internal candidates must also apply online and forward the application through the proper channel within 15 days from the closing date.
Important Notes
- Only Indian nationals aged 18 years and above are eligible.
- Original documents will be verified at the document verification stage.
- No TA will be reimbursed for the written test.
- Legal jurisdiction: Kolkata only.
- HCL reserves the right to modify/cancel/restrict the recruitment process.
